When we speak about diamonds clarity, we are referring to the presence of blemishes and inclusions in the diamond. Inclusions on a diamond can be considered as the diamonds birthmark and blemishes refer to surface flaws. Blemishes and Inclusions have direct impact on its clarity and value while grading the diamond.
The grading of diamonds for clarity is done under 10x loupe magnification. Grades range from Flawless (diamonds that are free of blemishes and inclusions), to Included 3 (diamonds having large, heavy blemishes and inclusions that are visible to the naked eye).

Selecting a Clarity Grade
- Select "eye-clean" diamonds that have no imperfections visible to the naked-eye through the crown. Diamonds of this clarity are less expensive compared to flawless (FL), internally flawless (IF) or Very, very slightly included (VVS) diamonds, which are extremely rare and command higher prices.
- High quality, diamonds rated in the VS clarity range will not cost as much as more premium clarities. VS diamonds will contain inclusions that are undetectable to the unaided eye
- Imperfections in diamonds graded slightly included (SI) are not visible to the unaided eye, making them an excellent value.
